The dry months from June to October are generally considered the best months to visit the Maasai Mara National Reserve, with reduced vegetation that makes spotting wildlife easier. July to September is the time to visit if you want to experience the Great Wildebeest Migration, with huge herds crossing the Mara River in search of fresh grazing pastures.
Light rains fall across the Maasai Mara region from November through to March, although these short downpours are usually followed by clear, sunny skies. Heavier downpours are experienced between March and May, attracting myriad birdlife to the Maasai Mara from across Africa and beyond.
