Mara Bushtops is set within a private conservancy on the edge of the Maasai Mara National Reserve, offering its guests a truly exclusive wildlife-viewing experience. The conservancy was created in conjunction with local landowners and village elders to ensure all could thrive while protecting the wildlife species that venture here from the neighbouring reserve.

NOT SURE WHERE TO VISIT IN AFRICA?

Because the camp is set on a private ranch, it can offer a variety of activities, such as off-road game drives, walking safaris and night game drives that aren’t always possible in other reserves and parks. Mara Bushtops’ close relationship with the surrounding Maasai communities and schools also allows for personalised visits to learn about the local way of life.

A highlight of staying at Mara Bushtops is experiencing the annual Great Wildebeest Migration as huge herds of wildebeest, zebras and opportunistic predators travel north from the Serengeti National Park. After making the precarious crossing over the crocodile-infested Mara River, they disperse across the plains of the Maasai Mara to refuel before returning south.

But even outside of the migration months, the Maasai Mara offers exceptional wildlife sightings of giraffes, elephants, Thomson’s gazelle and hippos. It boasts one of Africa’s highest concentrations of lions, making it one of the best places to spot these apex predators in the wild. The reserve’s proximity to Nairobi makes it easily accessible by road, as well as being served by scheduled and charter flights to the Siana and Keekorok Airstrips.
