INTERNATIONAL AND DOMESTIC FLIGHT ROUTES TO NAIROBI

Kenya is served by a number of international airports, including Jomo Kenyatta International Airport in Nairobi, Moi International Airport in Mombasa and Eldoret International Airport. Jomo Kenyatta International Airport is the main entry point for visitors travelling to the capital and beyond to the country’s wildlife destinations. Also in Nairobi is Wilson Airport, which has flights to many regional airports in Kenya and is served by a number of safari flight companies. 

ARRIVING INTO NAIROBI AIRPORT (JOMO KENYATTA INTERNATIONAL)

Jomo Kenyatta International Airport is served by a number of airlines, including Air Mauritius, British Airways, China Southern, Egypt Air, Emirates, Ethiopian Airlines, Etihad, Fastjet, FlyDubai, Kenya Airways and KLM. It also has several flight connections to regional airports and safari airstrips across Kenya and Tanzania if you’re continuing to one of East Africa’s wildlife reserves. 
 

ARRIVING INTO MOI INTERNATIONAL IN MOMBASA (MBA)

Moi International Airport is served by a number of international airlines, including Ethiopian Airlines, Air Italy, Kenya Airways, Qatar Airways, Turkish Airlines and Uganda Airlines. There are frequent domestic flight connections from Moi International Airport to Jomo Kenyatta International Airport. 

 

CONNECTING TO WILSON AIRPORT (WIL)

Wilson Airport is served by a number of domestic airlines, including Airkenya Express, Fly Tristar and Safarilink. It has regular connections to the Maasai Mara, Amboseli and Samburu, as well as direct flights to Kilimanjaro and Zanzibar in neighbouring Kenya. The driving time between Jomo Kenyatta International Airport and Wilson Airport is between 20 and 30 minutes (depending on traffic).


CHARTER FLIGHTS

In addition to scheduled flight routes across Kenya, it’s also possible to charter a private aircraft directly to various airstrips in the country. Charter flights are in private, pressurised cabins and don’t have luggage weight restrictions like scheduled flights. You can determine the flight time that’s convenient for you, with the option to land at any time during daylight hours (sunset is roughly between 6:30 pm and 7:00 pm).

 

LOCAL AIRLINES AND LUGGAGE RESTRICTIONS

Local Kenyan airlines include SafariLink and Mombasa Air Safari. They all use Cessna Grand Caravans or similar aircraft that can accommodate 9 to 13 passengers. Luggage is restricted to 15 kgs per passenger and must be carried in soft-sided bags or suitcases (no hard shell cases are permitted).
