Best time to Stay at Ngorongoro Crater Lodge

The dry months from June to October are generally considered the best time to visit the Ngorongoro Conservation Area. During this period, the grass in the crater tends to be much shorter and the wildlife is much easier to spot. The dry season is associated with clear, sunny skies and little rainfall, which not only makes for better game driving conditions but also reduces the chance of contracting malaria.

If you do opt to travel during the wet season from November to May, you can still expect impressive wildlife viewing in the Ngorongoro Conservation Area. The landscapes transform a lush green and the birdlife is at its best as the lakes and pools fill with water. The rains are mostly short, afternoon downpours between November and the start of March, with heavier downpours experienced during April and May. On the plus side, you may benefit from better accommodation rates due to the lack of demand and other travellers.
