The dry season from June through to October is generally considered the best time to visit the Zanzibar Archipelago, which also coincides with the safari high season. You can expect clear, sunny skies, warm temperatures and a lack of rainfall. As many visitors like to spend time on the beaches of Zanzibar after their safari, it can be a very busy time in the archipelago.
In November, the temperatures begin to rise and, after a build up of clouds in the morning, the “short rains” descend in the afternoons. By Christmas time, you can expect a little more sunshine and for scuba divers, this is the best time to encounter whale sharks.
January to March offers some of the best diving conditions in the archipelago but things can be quite hot and humid. By around mid-March, you can expect more extended periods of rain before the “long rains” officially arrive in April and continue throughout May.
