Best time to visit the Mwiba Wildlife Reserve

The Mwiba Wildlife Reserve is located in the Southern Serengeti, which is home to huge migratory herds during the “green season” from December to April. More than two million animals spread across the plains during this period while predatory species such as lions, leopards and cheetahs watch on for their next meal.

In January, the herds gather on the eastern side of the Serengeti, waiting for the first rains to fall on the southern plains before they quickly move south. In February, the wildebeest herds begin to settle around Lake Ndutu and Lake Masek where they’ll give birth to their offspring. This is a wonderful time to see newborns taking their first steps, as well as thrilling kills as predators take advantage of these easy meals.
