Perched beneath the Oloololo Escarpment in the north of the Mara Triangle, the &Beyond Bateleur Camp is just 15minutes’ drive from where the final “Out of Africa” scenes were filmed. It’s less than two miles from the Oloololo Gate, which accesses the Maasai Mara National Reserve, although it’s likely that you’ll see wildlife coming and going right outside your front door.
With nine gorgeous, tented suites, the &Beyond Bateleur Camp is a luxurious base for experiencing the annual Great Wildebeest Migration, which crosses over from the Serengeti in neighbouring Tanzania. Several river crossings are also in close proximity to the camp, offering thrilling wildlife encounters throughout the year.
Hardwood floors, polished silver and copper bathtubs create an old-world atmosphere while the sparkling swimming pool offers a welcome respite during the heat of the day. The WILDChild program ensures there are plenty of activities for children to enjoy, include Maasai village visits, painting, storytelling, beadwork and baking. The &Beyond Bateleur Camp is conveniently served by its own airstrip, which can be accessed via daily flights from Nairobi and Mombasa.
