When to Go

Best time to visit the Northern Serengeti

If you want to experience the Great Wildebeest Migration, then late July to October is the best time to visit the Northern Serengeti. August and September are when the height of the action takes place along the banks of the Mara River while large populations of zebra, topi, impala, giraffe and buffalo can be seen throughout the year.

Light rains are usually experienced across the region from November through to March while heavier downpours are encountered up until May (disruptions to travel plans may be encountered during particularly heavy rains). The wet season is synonymous with exceptional birdwatching as migratory species flock from Europe and Asia to the lush, green landscapes.
