Best time to visit Singita Kwitonda Volcanoes National Park

Most visitors trek to see the mountain gorillas of Volcanoes National Park during the dry months of June through to September when the trails are easiest to access. There’s a second, short dry season from mid-December to mid-February, which is another popular time to visit.

However, if you decide to visit during the rainy season, you’re likely to encounter the gorillas on the lower slopes as the climate cools at higher elevations. This makes them easier to access, although you will have to compete with occasional downpours and slippery, muddy trails. The long rains extend from February to May while the short rains take place between October through to mid-December.
