Introduction

About Mombasa

Holding the title of “Kenya’s oldest city”, Mombasa is a bustling, multicultural port that will ignite your senses. Aside from the atmospheric alleys of its Old Town and 15th-century Portuguese fort, Mombasa is the gateway to a string of idyllic, white sandy beaches along the Indian Ocean coastline.

Just a stone’s throw south lies Diani Beach, which is renowned for its luxury beach resorts where you can while away your days beneath a beach umbrella as the warm waters lap at your feet. Migrating whales can be spotted off the coast between October and April while a whole host of water sports will keep active family members busy.

To the north is Malindi, an underwater paradise and home to Africa’s oldest marine park. Explore its colourful coral reef and majestic marine life while scuba diving or snorkelling before settling in for a sumptuous meal of the local specialty, smoked sailfish, with your feet sunk into the sand.
