Introduction

About Amboseli & the Chyulu Hills

Famed for its iconic views of Mount Kilimanjaro, Amboseli National Park encompasses almost 400 square kilometres in Kenyas south. Its considered one of the best places in the world to get up close to free-ranging elephants and is also home to giraffes, zebras and cheetahs, to name just a few. The sparse vegetation makes for exceptional wildlife viewing while its proximity to the parks of northern Tanzania and the trekking slopes of Mount Kilimanjaro make it a convenient stop on Kenya-Tanzania safari packages.

Soak up the sweeping panoramas from Observation Hill and birdwatch on the seasonal shores of Lake Amboseli before travelling to the adjacent Chyulu Hills National Park. This rugged wilderness is volcanic in origin and is equally revered for its Mount Kilimanjaro views. Aside from ancient volcanic cones and craters, the park is home to buffalo, antelope, elephants and leopards, together with the birdwatching paradise that is Lake Jipe.

Want to capture that iconic photo of elephants backed by the snow-capped peak of Mount Kilimanjaro? Then head to Amboseli National Park on one of our Kenya-Tanzania safari tours.
