Dar Es Salaam Hotels

One of the most beautiful and economically important cities in Tanzania, the coastal city of Dar Es Salaam is situated in a quiet bay off the Indian Ocean coast blessed with serene beaches and clear azure water. It was founded way back in 1862 by Sultan of Zanzibar, Seyyid Majid, on the site of a village. Since then it has developed into an economic hub and a prosperous center in the entire East African Region. Until 1974, it served as the capital of the country. Being a coastal city, the region boasts of many sandy beaches looking into the Indian Ocean. Dar Es Salaam also accommodates two of the five museums which comprise the consortium of National Museum of Tanzania. The national museum are dedicated to the history of Tanzania and exhibits many fascinating and culturally important artworks and monuments. Besides that, there are botanical gardens, recreational centers, and theatres organizing cultural and musical shows . This urban center of Tanzania also possesses numerous restaurants, shops, shopping malls, office and administrative buildings, and due to the globalization and foreign settlements including Europeans and Asians, it might not seem like a typical African city at all. Dar Es Salaam is just an example of how Tanzania and the African continent as a whole is developing and the potential it holds.
