YOUR ADVENTURE BEGINS
4 Nights - Samburu National Reserve

4 Nights - Samburu National Reserve

On arrival at the Jomo Kenyatta International Airport, you’ll be greeted by a Vencha representative and transported to the Wilson Airport for your connecting flight to Samburu. Here you’ll be met by your guide from Saruni Samburu and transferred to the lodge, with an optional game drive en route.

Saruni Samburu is the only lodge in the Kalama Conservancy, which borders the Samburu National Reserve. It’s renowned for its chic, eco-friendly design, with full-board accommodation and a complimentary back and neck massage included in your stay.    Take time to settle into your suite, then embark on an afternoon game drive through the 200,000-acre pristine wilderness of the Kalama Conservancy. Stop for sundowners at the end of the day while soaking up the breathtaking views. Return to the lodge for a delicious dinner of Italian-inspired dishes.
Begin the day with an early morning game drive through the Samburu National Reserve to spot the “Samburu Special Five” - reticulated giraffe, Grevy's zebra, beisa oryx, Somali ostrich and gerenuk - all of which are rare and occur only in this part of Kenya. You may also be treated to sightings of elephants, lions and leopards, with a picnic lunch served out in the bush before returning to the lodge in the afternoon.

Unwind with a complimentary massage at the Samburu Wellbeing Space and take time to relax at the lodge before an evening game drive in the Kalama Conservancy. End the day with an unforgettable bush dinner under the stars, accompanied by Samburu warriors dancing around a magical campfire.

Following a hearty breakfast at Saruni Samburu, you’ll make the two-hour drive northeast to the Sera Conservancy and Saruni Rhino, which was created with the sole purpose of enabling visitors to easily spot rhinoceros. Enjoy a refreshing drink and lunch in the shade of Swara House, accompanied by majestic views across a watering hole that’s regularly visited by wildlife. Take time to relax on the verandah of one of the beach club-style stone cottages before departing on your Rhino Tracking Experience.

Led by a guide and a ranger, you’ll be driven to within a short distance of a black rhino, then track it on foot. Communication between rangers will ensure you can track as many rhinos as possible while getting an up-close and personal experience. Return to the lodge for a lantern-lit bush dinner amidst the enchanting setting of a dry river bed.

Depart early in the morning with a picnic breakfast on a game drive to the nearby “Singing Wells” at Kisima Hamsini. Here you’ll witness Samburu pastoralists singing traditional songs to their livestock at a series of natural wells as they bring water up from the depths, just as their ancestors have done for centuries.

Watch as thousands of sand grouse take a dip in the refreshing waters of the natural waterholes before returning to the Rhino Sanctuary through a different entrance from the previous day. Then continue to the camp for lunch, which will be served surrounded by doum palms and herds of elephants. After a short rest in the cooling shade of the banda, you’ll have the option to visit either the Reteti Elephant Orphanage or embark on another rhino tracking adventure. A bush “lugga” dinner will be served under the never-ending African sky before you fall asleep in this stunning wilderness.
