3 Nights - Karatu The Manor
Day 1 - Tarangire National Park
After breakfast at the lodge, it’s time to depart Arusha and drive towards Tarangire National Park, one of Northern Tanzania’s underrated gems. Keep your eyes peeled for herds of elephants, as well as large numbers of wildebeest, zebra and giraffe. Enjoy a picnic lunch beside the scenic Tarangire River where wildlife come to refuel and spend the afternoon revelling in the stunning scenery.
In the late afternoon, you’ll check into The Manor Ngorongoro, a luxurious house on a 1,500-acre Arabica coffee estate near the town of Karatu. It’s a magnificent base for exploring the famous Ngorongoro Conservation Area, with wonderful views across the surrounding plains.
Day 2 - Lake Manyara National Park
After breakfast at The Manor, you’ll drive towards Lake Manyara National Park, which was hailed by Ernest Hemingway as “the loveliest I have ever seen”. Go in search of the park’s unique tree-climbing lions, with a picnic lunch served in the middle of the day so you can make the most of the wildlife encounters.
Return to The Manor in the late afternoon, with the option to embark on a horse-riding excursion around the coffee estate and into the surrounding hills. Dinner will be served in The Manor’s restaurant.
Day 3 - Ngorongoro Crater
Begin the day with a hearty breakfast at The Manor before descending into what is the world’s largest inactive volcanic crater - Ngorongoro. Spend the day game driving through this UNESCO World Heritage-listed landscape, with lunch served at a scenic viewpoint on the rim of the crater. Return to the lodge in the mid afternoon for some relaxation time or an optional treatment at the on-site spa before dinner is served.
